The best haircuts and hairstyles for you are the ones to fit your style, personality, face frame and lifestyle.   Are you quiet and reserved?  Outgoing ?   These are the questions one should ask themselves when choosing a haircut or style.  Usually if you see a haircut or hairstyle  in a magazine, hairstyle book, or  maybe even on another person, if you are drawn to it, you probably would look good with that haircut or hairstyle.

Here are some important considerations for you, and some questions to bring up with your hair stylist.

  A. How often will I need to have my hair trimmed to maintain the hairstyle that the haircut presents?

  B. Does this haircut accentuate my features?

      a.  Does it compliment my face shape?

      b. Does it frame my face if I have a high forehead, or a  lower hairline?

      c. Does it draw attention to the eyes, the nose, the mouth?

     d.  Will this haircut  be cut over the ears ?  Do I need to tuck the hairstyle behind my ears after the cut is finished?

     e. Would I look good with bangs?

      f. Do I look good in short hair?  Medium length? Long?

C.  Is this haircut difficult to style?

      a. Do I have time to style the haircut? How long will this cut take to style?

      b. Should I keep it simple?  Maybe a blowdry and go style?

      c. Or maybe you would enjoy curling or straightening your hairstyle?

D.  Long layers?  Medium Layers?  Short layers?

E.  Razor cut or scizzor cut?   Blunt cut or textured?

A good stylist will take the time to consult with you about you personal preferences and any questions or concerns you may have.  Lets face it our hair is a vital part of our personality and style.  Many people ask the stylist what is in style?  Although haircuts and styles can be  trendy, basically when you preview any style magazine or book, you will notice that many haircuts and styles are in fashion.   Pamela Bunta.

Hairstyles to consider choosing will  need to fit each individual's style and personality.  The basis of selecting a certain style should be the degree of difficulty in maintaining the style, { regular trims}, difficulty in styling it, and the amount of time, and products that are involved.  A good stylist will be willing to consult with you about these considerations before the cut and or style begins.  Sometimes it is up to the client to ask the questions if the stylist is not trained to do a consultation.  A well trained stylist should also explain the steps of styling your haircut and hairstyle selection as she does your hair.  It is pertinant that the stylist educate you as much as possible so you will be confident in styling and wearing the hairstyle you have chosen. Pamela Bunta

The short haircuts and hairstyles seen above are very easy to style.  A few of them are, what we refer to in the salon business as, blowdry and go.  Some are hairstyles that require various products, such as: gels, waxes, sprays, putties, and other products your hair stylist can recommend.

These short hairstyles that I've shown you above are fun and sassy.  There are some of these hairstyles that really accentuate curly or wavy hair, and a few for thick, or even baby fine hair. One can shampoo your hair and use a product, mess it up, or comb it flat and go.  Or if you prefer you can blow dry the hairstyle with a combination of product and then you are set to go with a finish spray.

Haircuts and hairstyles these days are usually made to be easy and worry free in our modern, fast paced lifestyle.

There are times though that you may desire to  use your curling iron or flat iron on your hairstyle for that special look.  Possibly the hairstyle will require those tools to some extent.

One fact that your hair stylist should always point out to you is that you can always take your simple hairstyle and create a more formal look with it.  You do this by using the different tools and techniques, and possibly different products, to give your hair a more elegant or sensual style. If you have a high forhead, and, or, a high hairline and a long face, you should always wear bangs and have layers in your hair.  The bangs and layers soften your look, and bangs create an illusion of a shorter face.  No bangs with a high hairline, or high forhead, make you look harsh and unbalanced.  Compare hairstyles on different face shapes to determine for yourself.
